Do you remember when games required logic and wit, not just mouse clicks? If you spent your childhood with Monkey Island or King’s Quest, then Stellar Mess is your time machine. It's not just a stylization of the 80s, but a real love letter to that era. And now you can grab it absolutely for free, the Steam game giveaway will last until February 27. The game has 85% positive reviews for all time.

What is this story about?
It's 1991 outside. Internet is just starting to connect the world together, and fans are building conspiracy theories around the cult franchise Stellar Battle. The main hero, Diego, a comic book shop owner in Argentina, believes that the movies hide secret messages. And maybe, princess Lanor is not a fictional character at all.
And then more: broken sewers, mysterious artifacts, Monty Python-style dialogues. The line between fantasy and reality blurs, and the most interesting part begins.
What makes Stellar Mess special?
This game doesn't just copy the style of retro-quests — it lives and breathes them.
- Classic 2D graphics: Pixels the size of a fist, 16-color EGA palette, but still attention to details — from comic shop counters to mysterious dungeons.
- Old-school verb-based interface: "Take", "Open", "Kick" — if you played quests of the 80s, you'll feel nostalgia instantly.
- Puzzles without nonsense solutions: There are no tasks like "attach a fish to an antenna to catch a signal." Everything is logical, but with a touch of madness. For example, how to fix a pipe with a tin can?
First chapter — short but bright
Playing through this free giveaway game will take about five hours. But that's not a minus — there’s no "water" in the story, but lots of funny moments and references to 80s-90s pop culture. The ending hints at a continuation, so this is just the beginning.

Who will like it?
- Fans of classic Sierra and LucasArts. Even the soundtrack sounds like it was recorded on an old synthesizer.
- Newbies in the genre. It's impossible to get stuck here or die from a wrong decision.
- Those who appreciate absurd humor. If you like it when an ice cream seller quotes Nietzsche, this is for you.
Is it worth trying?
The free version of the game — definitely! The developers clearly put their soul into it. Yes, it can't compete with modern indie hits in graphics, but it has charisma that is hard to fake.
P.S. After playing, you might feel the urge to rewatch Star Wars or check old comics for hidden meanings. Tested.
System requirements:
